This first Biosyl newsletter is mostly an opportunity to inform you about the futur events both in Lyon and elsewhere.
The Biosyl website has also been updated this summer (list of members, job offers, local and national events ...).

LyonSysBio is the yearly international conference organized by BioSyL(http://lyonsysbio2015.sciencesconf.org/?lang=en).
In 2015, the conference will be held from the 18th to the 20th of November in Lyon.
Keynote lectures will be delivered by the following speakers:
Gregoire Altan-Bonnet (MSK cancer center, New-York)
Becca Asquith (Imperial College, London)
Chris Bakal (Institute of cancer research, London)
Suckjoon Jun (University of California, San Diego)
James Locke (University of Cambridge)
John Marioni (European Bioinformatics Institute, Cambridge)
Carsten Peterson (Computational Biology & Biological Physics, Lund University, Sweden)
Andreas Wagner (IEU, University of Zurich)
Please use the online system to submit a one-page abstract (maximum 500 words, in English) by October 5, 2015.
A satellite “Meet The Industry” session will be co-organized with Ecofect and gather scientists from the academia and industry.

La Biologie de synthèse et la Biologie des systèmes regroupent différents thèmes et outils développés depuis déjà une trentaine d'années.
L'intérêt actuel autour de ces deux disciplines vient du fait qu'ils mettent l'accent sur une vue multidisciplinaire de la biologie, en interaction constante avec d'autres disciplines scientifiques (chimie, informatique, mathématiques et physique).

Le GDR BioSynSys a été conçu par deux laboratoires - l' iSSB à Evry et le LISBP à Toulouse -pour fédérer les forces françaises en Biologie de Synthèse et des Systèmes (BSS) et les doter d'outils pour faire émerger une communauté visible et structurée.

EMBL will run a course specifically focused on the modeling of cellular processes this fall.

Modeling Cellular Processes in Space and Time - 2 October, 2015 at” Porquerolles, France.
This course is focused on mathematical modeling of biological systems. It is designed for PhD students and postdocs from biology with a strong interest for modeling and students from a physics/mathematics/IT background willing to enter the field of biology.
Large breaks and social activities will foster discussions and networking between all the participants of the course. |

Conférence EvoLyon'2015
Mercredi 25 novembre 2015 – Musée des Confluences - Lyon
Il existe sur Lyon un potentiel scientifique très fort dans le domaine de l'évolution. L'objectif de la conférence EvoLyon est de réunir les chercheurs de ce domaine afin de stimuler des coopérations – notamment entre spécialistes de différents domaines scientifiques. Nous invitons donc tous les chercheurs, étudiants et enseignants lyonnais intéressés – directement ou indirectement – par la question de l'évolution à participer à cette conférence.
Les trois premières éditions d'EvoLyon (2009, 2011 et 2013) avaient réuni chacune plus de 200 participants. Cette année, EvoLyon se tiendra au sein du tout nouveau Musée des Confluences..
Le programme sera centré sur la thématique "Changements globaux : impacts sur l'évolution de la biodiversité".
